The original painting 'Petticoat Whaler' celebrates the life of Aberdeen resident Margaret Penny, wife of Captain William Penny who sailed together on the whaling ship the Lady Franklin to Baffin Island in 1857.
Margaret Penny was the first white woman to winter over in the freezing whaling grounds and the first Scottish Petticoat Whaler.
